YOUR EXPERIENCE:

  • Arrive at the Spitfire Company Biggin Hill to be greeted by your guide
  • You’ll be part of a small group with just 6 ‘Sit in a Spitfire’ guests taking part
  • Learn about the Spitfire’s history and construction
  • Climb into the aircraft and spend 10 minutes immersing yourself in the cockpit environment
  • Your guide will explain the flying controls, the ‘six pack’ of primary flight instruments, engine gauges and the controls for the propeller, fuel and magnetos
  • Place your hands on the famous central ‘Spade’ grip with gun trigger and place your feet on the rudder pedals
  • Bring along your phone or camera and your guide will be happy to take a picture of you in the cockpit and in front of the aircraft
  • Afterwards you’ll be taken on a 30 minute tour of our restoration facility where you can see the restoration projects and other WW2 aircraft
  • The aircraft you’ll sit in will usually be Mk IV Spitfire TA805 ‘Spirit of Kent’ or Mk XVI Spitfire TE356
  • The experience is only open to ticket holders, additional spectators are not permitted
  • Allow spending an hour and a half on site

Important information:

  • To access the cockpit you must be physically agile enough to climb via a step onto the wing and then into the cockpit
  • Dimensions of the cockpit are limited, it's 55 cm wide and the access door is 46 cm wide, for this reason a maximum of 17 Stone / 108KG applies
  • We reserve the right to refuse access If your guide feels it is not safe for you to access the aircraft.
  • Available on selected Weekdays and Weekends
  • Sit in a Spitfire groups usually operate with up to a maximum of 6 guests
  • Access to the aircraft will be 1 at a time
  • Free parking onsite
  • Minimum age 18
