Spitfire spitting flames

On 11th December 2025, we announced a brand-new event for 2026Biggin Hill at Nightfall, an exclusive warbird photography session  at the Biggin Hill Heritage Hangar.

This exciting new addition to our events calendar offers a rare opportunity to photograph legendary aircraft in dramatic lighting, receive expert guidance, and enjoy privileged access, making it a must-attend experience for aviation photographers and warbird enthusiasts alike.

Photograph Iconic Warbirds After Dark

Hosted by one of the UK’s leading aviation photographers, Darren Harbar, this event is suitable for all skill levels. Darren will be on hand throughout the session, offering professional tips, creative insight, and one-to-one guidance. His work has been featured in leading aviation publications including FlyPast, Aeroplane Monthly, and many more.

With limited numbers, guests will enjoy a premium, relaxed environment with outstanding access to both the aircraft and expert instruction.

An Exclusive Biggin Hill Experience

The session begins with a tea and coffee welcome and an introductory talk, followed by an engaging Spitfire pilot and engineer talk delivered by the Biggin Hill team. Guests will have the opportunity to ask questions and gain rare insight into the operation, history, and engineering of these legendary warbirds.

Step back in time as 1940s re-enactors, historic vehicles, and static warbirds create carefully staged scenes, offering photographers exceptional opportunities to capture authentic, atmospheric images. At the halfway point, guests will enjoy complimentary hot drinks and snacks.

Exclusive Restoration Access & Night Shoot Finale

After a short break, photographers will move into the restoration area, where active Spitfire restoration projects are dramatically illuminated with colourful lighting. This provides a rare opportunity to photograph the internal structure of a Supermarine Spitfire and gain a deeper appreciation of the craftsmanship involved in restoring these iconic war machines.

The event concludes with a spectacular warbird night shoot, featuring a Spitfire, Mustang, and Buchón. Dramatic lighting and atmospheric backdrops will allow guests to capture unforgettable images, including glowing propeller-tip circles and flames spitting from the exhausts.
