After an incredible few weeks on the Isle of Man in June, we’re delighted to announce that Spitfire flights return to the Isle of Man this August.
Bringing Spitfire MJ627 to the Island was a fantastic experience for both our team and our passengers. Flying from the Manx Aviation and Military Museum at Ronaldsway Airport, we welcomed aviation enthusiasts from across the Isle of Man and beyond, all eager to experience the unforgettable thrill of flying in one of Britain’s most iconic aircraft.
Our 35-minute Spitfire experiences gave passengers the opportunity to create a flight tailored to them. Some chose bespoke routes to fly over their homes, where family and friends gathered below to wave as the Spitfire roared overhead. Others opted for a scenic tour of the Island, taking in its spectacular coastline, rolling hills and picturesque valleys, before adding to the excitement with victory rolls and exhilarating aerobatic manoeuvres.
From the moment the aircraft lifted off from Ronaldsway Airport, the views were simply breathtaking. Heading straight out over the coast, passengers enjoyed unmatched panoramas across the Northern Irish Sea before sweeping back over the Isle of Man’s dramatic landscape, with more than 100 miles of rugged coastline stretching into the distance. It’s a view of the Island that very few people get to experience.
The memories didn’t stop after landing. Every passenger had the opportunity to spend time with MJ627, taking photographs beside the aircraft and chatting with the team before receiving a personalised flight certificate, signed by the pilot—a special keepsake to remember an unforgettable day.
The response to our visit was simply outstanding. We enjoyed our time on the Island so much that, towards the end of our stay, we decided to extend our visit by a few extra days to fly even more happy customers. It was fantastic to see so many people gathering around Ronaldsway Airport and at viewing spots across the Island to watch the Spitfire in flight, and we’ve loved receiving the incredible photographs shared by both passengers and spectators since returning home.
Back at our home base, the whole team certainly missed having MJ627 away, and she received a very warm welcome on her return. The aircraft was flown back by Barry Hughes, who recently celebrated the remarkable milestone of surpassing 2,500 flying hours in the Spitfire—an achievement reached by very few pilots and a testament to his exceptional experience flying this legendary aircraft.
Thanks to the fantastic feedback we received and the overwhelming popularity of our June visit, we’ve decided to return to the Isle of Man one final time this year.
From 17th–19th August, Spitfire MJ627 will once again be based at Ronaldsway Airport, offering another opportunity to experience the magic of flying in this iconic wartime aircraft over one of the most beautiful landscapes in the British Isles.
We still have limited availability across all three days, so whether you’re fulfilling a lifelong ambition, searching for the perfect gift, or simply looking for an experience you’ll never forget, now is the perfect time to book.
