Spitfire Flights Return to the Cotswolds for the 2026 Season
The Unmistakable Roar Returns
The unmistakable roar of the Spitfire is back — Spitfire flights have returned to the Cotswolds for the 2026 season, and the flying season is officially underway, with more away days to come.
On Saturday 18th April, we launched our first Spitfire Experience flights at Cotswold Airport, marking a thrilling return to one of our most scenic and popular away bases. April always signals the start of our touring season, as we take our historic aircraft beyond Biggin Hill Airport and out across the country. The season began a week earlier on 11th April at Blackbushe Airport, before arriving in the heart of the Gloucestershire countryside for our second stop of the year.
A Spectacular Day Over the Cotswolds
Saturday at Cotswold delivered everything you could hope for — clear skies, stunning views, and a full schedule of unforgettable flights. Taking centre stage was our flagship aircraft, Supermarine Spitfire MJ627, delighting guests and spectators throughout the day.
With miles of uninterrupted countryside, rolling hills, and vibrant greenery stretching in every direction, it’s easy to see why Cotswold Airport remains a firm favourite among our locations.
What makes the experience here truly special isn’t just the flying — it’s the atmosphere on the ground. Right beside our operating area sits the ever-popular AV8 Restaurant, where guests can relax with lunch while watching the Spitfire start up and depart just metres away. It’s an up-close aviation experience that’s hard to match anywhere else.
Adding to the sense of history is the iconic Negus Boeing 747, a preserved British Airways jumbo jet located on-site. Positioned near the car park and our Fly a Spitfire office, it’s an unmissable sight — and often open to visitors keen to step aboard a true giant of the skies.
We also offer experience flights in another iconic aircraft from Cotswold.
While the Spitfire remains the star of the show, it’s not the only legend flying from Cotswold. We also offer flights in the equally iconic North American P-51 Mustang, giving aviation enthusiasts another incredible way to experience history in the air.
