1943 Spitfire LF IX – MJ755
A collaboration with the Greek Airforce and the IKARUS Foundation saw MJ755 ‘The Greek Spitfire’ delivered in parts to the engineering team here at the Biggin Hill Spitfire Factory.
Three years later the clipped wing MkIX aircraft returned to Greece proudly wearing the distinctive blue and white roundels of the Hellenic airforce.
Whilst undergoing restoration a chance discovery with one of our visiting Veteran pilots showed that George Dunn had originally delivered this aircraft to Greece back in January 1947.
